Offshore worker killed by lightning



MIRI: An offshore worker on night shift died after allegedly being struck by lightning. It was stormy with a heavy downpour before the incident.

The body of Collin Edwin, 33, from Sibuti was sent to Miri Hospital for a postmortem.

Miri police chief, ACP Gan Tian Kee, when contacted on Sunday confirmed receiving a report on the tragic incident.

According to sources, the incident occurred in a barge near Tukau area (off Miri waters) around 2.45am on Sunday.

Collin’s body was discovered by colleagues who informed their supervisor.

“The case has been classified as sudden death,” Gan said.
